Can I put my bottle in the freezer?
We do not recommend it. Water naturally expands when frozen, so you may damage your stainless steel bottle. If you would like to keep your drink of choice cool, we do recommend dropping a few ice cubes into your bottle!

Can I put hot liquids into my bottle?
Sovereign Earth stainless steel bottles are single-walled and therefore offer very little heat insulation. We do not recommend storing hot liquids in your bottle as you may burn yourself. Please be careful.

What kinds of beverages can I put into my Sovereign Earth stainless steel bottle?
You can put anything from orange juice and lemonade to carbonated beverages and smoothies. This is a versatile bottle for your versatile lifestyle.

How do I use the extension straw?
We offer an extension straw in accessory menu so that you can switch out your filter when you want to drink liquids like orange juice, lemonade, etc. This way your bottle can be used as both a water filter and a traditional stainless steel bottle.

In order to use your straw extension, just unscrew your filter from the cap assembly and screw on the straw extension. It is that easy!

CLEANING

How do I go about cleaning my stainless steel bottle?
Cleaning your stainless steel bottle is quick and easy.

All of our stainless steel bottles are dishwasher safe. However, we recommend hand-washing colored bottles in order to prolong the life of the paint. Be sure to use gentle cleaning agents like warm, soapy water.

All caps should be hand-washed in order to prevent water from seeping into the interior of the cap, which can occasionally happen when washed in the dishwasher.

Where is the stainless steel bottle manufactured?
Our stainless steel bottles are manufactured in China. Each bottle is crafted with the highest quality standards and strict concern for the well-being of the artisans involved in their manufacturing. We take the necessary steps to ensure that workers are protected and are treated fairly.

Does the paint on a colored Sovereign Earth stainless steel bottle contain lead?
No. We use a non-toxic, lead-free paint for our colored bottles. We run lead tests through independent laboratories to ensure that our manufacturing materials are safe and healthy

How do I hold my bottle when I am drinking from the filter?
Hold the bottle upright (vertically), just like when you are drinking out of a straw.

Will hot liquids damage my water filter?
Yes. Hot water will damage the filter. Warm water will not cause any harm.

Can I put my filtered bottle in the freezer?
No, we do not recommend putting your bottle into the freezer. Water molecules expand as temperature drops, so you may not only damage your bottle, but you may also damage your water filter.

Do I need to clean my water filter?
No, there is no need to clean your filter. However, if you would like to wash your cap assembly, be sure to unscrew your filter from the cap assembly (the filter can be removed from the cap). We recommend hand-washing all plastic parts using gentle cleaning agents like warm, soapy water. No soaps, baking soda, vinegar, or hot water should be applied to the filter itself.

Is there anything particular I should do before I store my filter for a period of time?
Your water filter can be stored indefinitely once it is thoroughly dried out. Be sure to shake out any excess water, and allow it to dry for 2-3 days.

How do I recycle my water filter?
Sovereign Earth has developed a unique recycling program for used filters.  See the Sovereign Earth Filter Recycling Program page to learn more about recycling your used water filters.

Why can’t I just drop my filter into my home recycling bin?
Unfortunately, most municipal recyclers do not recycle pp#5 plastic nor do they have the equipment to regenerate activated-carbon filters into reusable energy sources. Therefore, we have developed our own program where we collect and recycle filters used by our eco-conscious customers.

What is really in my tap water?
The level of water contamination varies between regions. In the United States, commonly found contaminants include chlorine, industrial pollutants, agricultural runoff, heavy metals, and pharmaceutical drugs. More and more of these contaminants are being targeted in long-term studies as primary causes of pre-mature aging and disease. It it up to you to ensure higher quality drinking water for you and your family, and our line of water filters offers an effective, cost-efficient, and eco-friendly way to do so.

How often do I have to replace the filter?
The filter has a guaranteed filtration capacity of 100 gallons, which can last anywhere from 9-12 months. As you reach the filtration capacity of your water filter, the water output, or flow, will gradually decrease. When this happens, it is time to replace your filter.

Is a bi-annual replacement filter really sustainable?
Yes. Each filter replaces over 800 16oz plastic water bottles. So, not only are our filters eco-friendly, but they are also 100% recyclable through our Sovereign Earth Filter Recycling Program. Our Recycling Program gives your used filters an extended life by transforming them into reusable resources.

Why would I need a portable water filter if I can just fill up my regular stainless steel bottle from my home filter?
Portable water filtration is not only more convenient than a home filtration system, but it also gives customers the opportunity to drink clean water from tap water sources outside of the home. Most people are outside of the home for long periods of the day. A portable water filter gives you access to any tap water source with the confidence that you are hydrating your body with only the cleanest water.

What kinds of liquids can I put in my bottle?
You can only run fresh water through our water filtration systems – no salt water. These fresh water sources can include anything from tap water sources or your backyard pool to a lake or a river.
